Add a doctor as a prescriber

A doctor who signs ordinations for your clinic is not a normal user on your account. You invite them, they keep their own MERIDIQ account, and they work from a separate doctor portal.

📍 Where to find this: General Settings → Team → Add user

✅ What you can do

  • Invite a doctor to sign ordinations for your clinic
  • Understand why a prescriber does not need a paid user seat
  • Know what to do when an invitation is not accepted in time

👨‍⚕️ Invite a doctor

  1. Click General SettingsTeam.
  2. Start adding a user as normal.
  3. Set the role to Prescriber.
  4. Enter the doctor's e-mail address.
  5. Click Send Join Request.

The doctor receives an e-mail asking them to join your clinic. They appear in your team once they accept.

⚠️ The invitation expires after 24 hours. If the doctor does not accept in time, send it again.

🔑 What the doctor needs first

The invitation only works if the doctor already has their own MERIDIQ account and has registered for the doctor portal. You cannot create the account for them.

If the address does not match an account that is set up for prescriptions, MERIDIQ refuses the invitation rather than sending it.

ℹ️ The doctor signs in separately at app.meridiq.com/prescription/login, not through your clinic's login. They see their own list of clinics and the ordinations waiting for them.

💳 What a prescriber costs

A prescriber does not use one of your paid user seats. Choosing the Prescriber role hides the seat and system options for exactly that reason.

Instead, the clinic pays a fee per prescription, at the rate the doctor sets. The fee is recorded on each ordination when the doctor signs it.

ℹ️ This is why a doctor working across several clinics only needs one MERIDIQ account. Each clinic invites the same account, and each clinic is billed for its own prescriptions.

🚪 Removing a prescriber

Removing a doctor from your team also unassigns every ordination of theirs that is not yet signed. Anything they have already signed stays on the client's record, as it must.

💡 With the doctor connected, see Create and assign an ordination for the day-to-day workflow, and Team & staff management for ordinary users and roles.
